Print File Setup Standards

Following these specs reduces revisions and accelerates production scheduling.

File Specifications

  • Preferred formats: PDF, AI, EPS, high-resolution PNG/JPG
  • Color mode: CMYK for print assets where possible
  • Resolution: 300 DPI at final print size
  • Bleed: Add at least 0.125" on all sides when required
  • Fonts: Outline all fonts or include font packages for editable files

Standard Print Pieces

Business cards, flyers, brochures, postcards, and menus usually need 300 DPI artwork with bleed and outlined fonts.

Large Format Signs

Banners, posters, window graphics, and boards can often be prepared at lower DPI if the final viewing distance is greater.

Rush Orders

For same-day printing, sending a clean PDF with exact trim size is the fastest path to production.

Common Problems

What Delays A Print Job Most Often

  • Low-resolution screenshots used instead of original artwork.
  • Text placed too close to the trim edge.
  • RGB files submitted for color-sensitive print work.
  • Missing linked images or fonts in editable files.
  • Unclear final size or folded format instructions.
